Training day

I went to a training day today on behaviour managment run by Andy Vass. What a great course! If any teachers get the chance to go on one, grab it with both hands. Very down to earth and practical, unlike some other insets I have had.

Sounds good then. It's always nice when something good comes out of training. So oftent he courses end up teaching you nothing

Was there any key points made?

he is a consultant to the dfes but is also a 'real' teacher with 20 odd years experience. He has been the head of and EBD school and is also a trained councilor.

It was all very practical and centred on reducing stress and emotion in the classroom to prevent poor bahaviour before it starts. It was linked to current develpemnts in understanding of brain behaviour. Lots of great stuff on managing behaviour rather than controling it, body language, pit falls and how to avoid them.

I used to teach his son! He did some work with the staff at the school after he had left - probably 6 or 7 years ago now but he was very approachable.
