Does anyone have any recent experience of the Dyslexia school Fairley House in London? We are thinking of moving our daughter there. She has an EHCP for dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia.

I hope I'm not being insensitive by asking this, but I'd like to know what the cohort are like. Our daughter doesn't have Autism and when I've looked at these specialist schools before they all seem to have quite a few children with social communication difficulties. That's definitley not the case for her. I just want her to feel as though she fits in.

Fairley House make a point of saying they only accept children with SpLd , but I've heard that's not quite true. If anyone has a child here please can you contact me?

@OV54 How old is your daughter if you don't mind me asking? We looked at it in 2019 but it was much less mainstream than Fairley House. This was for year 7 start though so that might be a big difference.

Funded by LA.

Our daughter is 11, so now in Year 7. We chose AH over FH because it's Marylebone site was closer to us, but she is in their new premises in Elvaston Place, so not far from FH in Pimlico. They also seem to focus on SEMH.
The biggest motivator for us was her comments after an assessment day "mum, the other kids and the teachers 'get me' "

Perhaps FH might have been a good fit, but she is so happy to "belong"

@OV54 that's interesting. I'm glad there's more girls there now. DD would've been with just 1 in a class of 6, all with boys who had severe SEMH problems. There was some classes lower down with more girls so it makes sense your daughter has a better ratio. Glad you found a school that works. We ended up at a mainstream with lots of support. It's had its ups and downs but no regrets.
Enjoy! It flies by. We're looking at colleges now and I feel like we were just doing the school searches for year 7.

Hi there, I work at Fairley House and would be happy to answer any questions you have. We are a specialist school for children with SpLD (namely dyslexia, dyspraxia and dyscalculia). We are not registered to enrol children on the autism spectrum.

Our aim is always to try and boost children's confidence, inspire them to enjoy their learning, get their knowledge and skills up to speed so they can re-enter mainstream education when the school and families feel they are ready to do so.

Hope this helps.
