KCS 11+ vs 13+

Hi- Im struggling to understand whether my son should apply for the 11+ for KCS or the 13+. He is currently in year 5 in a prep that goes up to 13 however I (and he) wouldn't mind moving him sooner if possible. Has anyone been through the same dilemma and come out wiser about how to make a decision between the two?

I did the 11+ with my daughter this time last year and it all seemed a lot more clear cut. But for my son Im very confused about the options for 11+ and 13+. Would KCS 'hold it against him' if he applied for 11+ even though he has a school that goes up to 13?

There is a thread in secondary education called 11+ or 13+ for boys that was active over the weekend and covers SW London schools.
It's really tricky but for Kings in particular I think this is the first year they have merged the prep and new boys together, it would be worth trying to speak to a current parents of age 11/12 boy.

We moved DS1 at 11 as he is quite mature and was a bit bored of his prep. Loves KCS and has risen to the challenge. For DS2 I am considering the opposite as he is constantly in trouble and to be honest I think needs a few more years to mature and will benefit from being top of the school. He's summer born, small in size and bright but clumsy and wildly different from older DS.

DD will go at 11 but girls is different. Friend is considering putting her DD from 11+ prep to a 13+ one for same reason as mine of DS2- time to mature in personality and academically.
