perse school 13+

We live overseas and DD is going for the Perse in Cambridge 13+ exams next week. Does anyone know anything about the Perse? Because of COVID we aren't able to see the school for ourselves.

Also does anyone know anything about the interviews? DD did some of Perse's math/reasoning sample papers and got over 90% correct, what she's most concerned about is humanities (isn't really taught in her current school) and the verbal interview, which she isn't really good at.

DD is academically bright and is in the top sets for maths, science and english in her school, might need a little help with geography/history. DD is fine at sports but not particularly well for a specific one, she has told me she wants to partake in sports at Perse. She is more of a shy person and is not at all interested in drama/performing arts, and is definitely not a music person!

Mums please help us out as we're not sure if this is the right school Confused we're partly making the move for DD's education, DD is in a very top school in our city but she loves the Perse.

She will be fine.

My son joined in y9 a while back (now at uni). And I have since worked there too.

The interview at that stage is very much a general chat and the interviewer will put them at their ease. It is not an academic chat in any way. He loved his time there and we as parents loved it too. Wishing her and you the best of luck in the entrance exams. It sounds very as though she is on track.

@SeasonFinale Dear SeasonFinale, I am considering to move to Cambridge for Perse School , previosly lived in Hampstead before moving overseas and now coming back to U.K. I have two kids , year7 DD and year9 DS for 2023. Can I kindly ask about the feel of the school as you said you still work there? any issues re bullying and how it is dealt with? are teachers happy at school, is there a frequent change in teaching posts? are the after school activities and club popular with kids or do most of them finish at 4ish? As far as I understand from an ex-Perse student (who is at uni now), it is an environment of bright kids with unstuffy and middle-class families which is perfect for us.

Hi I have actually left now (but not because of anything bad at the school).

Lots of students do stay on well after 4pm to take advantage of the many clubs etc that are on offer and yes as an unstuffy MC family ourself it was the perfect fit for our son. It is a really kind environment where it is not uncool to be clever and for want of a better description the geeks and the party goers all rub along together! It was perfect for my "split personality" son who was a partying geek!

Oxbridge admission rate has dropped substantially in independent schools, I am wondering why the Perse has gone against the trend, and maintained its record? Any explanations?
