What is the general opinion of Belmont Mill Hill? Is it highly academic or more general in focus? What sort of child would it suit best and is it difficult to get a place?

Bumping because I'd also be interested to hear from parents of kids at either Belmont or Mill Hill. The facilities are impressive, I know it's not as academic as some North London privates, but I'd be interested to know more... eg If it's a happy rounded place with enough academic stretch for most middling/to above middling kids?

Lovely school, not especially academic or hot housey. Good atmosphere, great for a sporty kid.

Thank you. Sound a lovely place.

@Jane077 looking at the feedback with interest too! My DD sat the 11+ and we are currently waiting on the results. I would describe her as middling in terms of academic ability, so hope she can secure a place, as I know it’s a very popular school.

my son is in year 8 - and has had a great 2 years. Yes, he's sporty but is doing really well academically too. It's a lovely school, great atmosphere, super grounds, we couldn't be happier!

I have friends with kids there. Children are happy, but mixed reports from parents about quality of teaching - it’s definitely far less academic than other North London privates, particularly at junior level.
