I thought going metric was supposed to make it simpler.

I can still remember -
12 inches = 1 foot
3 feet = 1 yard
22 yards = 1 chain ( a cricket pitch)!
1760 yards = 1 mile

fisil · 17/11/2004 07:26

YG, does it help you that I was doing this with Y11 yesterday and some were struggling?

Have you tried bringing in few measuring tapes and having them apply it to something real...ie measure their desks, room, each other, etc.

sorry, should have realized that you would have thought of that already. My stepdaughter is absolutely useless at maths (and she is by no means dumb). It never ceases to amaze me the simple math concepts that she can't get her head around.
