Wellington college

DD has just received notification of being in the waiting list for Wellington college. Has anyone been placed on the waiting list for lower sixth at Wellington and subsequently received a place? Please may I ask when the place was received?

Hi! We were in a similar position 2 years ago and a place didn’t come up. We subsequently found out that they significantly over offer (as many candidates are going for multiple schools) so even though we knew of people turning down places, the waitlist never seemed to move which was very frustrating and stressful. Luckily DD had an offer from Brighton College so despite the fact it wasn’t her first choice she loves it and is glad to have gone there. Sometimes these things happen for a reason. Good luck!

A dear friend is in a similar situation.

Hi DD is now at Marlborough college which is a much better option as its full boarding rather than weekly boarding. Her place at Wellington didn’t come through and we are glad it didn’t as she is very happy at MC. Luckily she had a back up plan.
