@crumpet Yup I think it very much is when you think of what the Nazi's were trying to achieve - mindless acceptance of an extreme doctrine that persecuted people based on their 'difference' to a supreme race. Why did they see the British public school system as something that they could mirror that would help them achieve this?
Is that not how the Guardian (and a lot of Labour politicians) works though?
Demanding 'mindless acceptance of an extreme doctrine?

See the 'I'm alright Jack' opinions as per Diane Abbott re schooling Blair re housing ownership.

@MichelleScarn Nope it is not. I am not a labour vote per se, even voted Tory once long before they decimated education funding, and surely you can see there is a wealth of different opinions in the Guardian from centre to left, not just those from the extreme fringes of the Labour Party. Which paper do you get your news from BTW?

Lots of different sources to be pedantic, not just newspapers and various of those as drummed into me by my Modern Studies teacher back in my distant school days, but paperwork, I'd read both broadsheet and tabloid, so a plethora from the Observer to the Herald to the Times to even The Daily Record. It actually makes me sad that this list no longer contains the Guardian, however I can no longer support them given their championship of LOJ and Suzanne Moore witch-hunt.

@MichelleScarn I rather suspect the author of the book, as a lecturer at Durham, was also very used to analysing lots of different sources and seeing through various bias. Not sure why the Guardian is being seen as a far left paper based on publishing this article about a well researched book?

Where have I said the Guardian are 'far Left'?

Most Eastern college prep schools traditionally borrowed heavily from the British model with classics studies, calling boys by last names, chapel with British hymns, and British style uniforms. When stealing a model, why not take from the best?
