Am I creating work for the teacher on Tapestry?

Apologies, this sounds mad and I know it.

DD is at a school nursery. She loves it, I love it; we both think her teacher is the best thing ever. The nursery uses Tapestry and the teacher uploads a lot of photos/videos of DD and others doing various things. Now, there’s an option to like posts, a la Facebook, and an option to comment. I diligently like everything but also feel obliged to comment/link things in the pictures to what DD is doing at home (because I want to acknowledge that the teacher is taking the time to post things, often with a lot of care and detail), except that whenever I do the teacher replies - so I feel like I’m basically creating work for her and should stop.

If you’re a teacher/similar, what would you like from parents on Tapestry and similar?

What does the teacher reply?
She's probably pleased that you are acknowledging her posts.
We used Famly at my workplace and a lot of parents don't bother commenting or even seem to care what we post about their child.
Must be refreshing for her.

Ha, this is the kind of thing I worry about

I’d probably stick to likes or emojis so she gets the response but doesn’t feel obliged to reply

Thanks mondeo.

What does the teacher reply?
It varies. Most recently there was a photo of DD bandaging a teddy at nursery with some commentary, and I replied to say that DH had broken his arm and she’d been very interested in that and liked to help him with the bandages, sling etc. Then the teacher replied that it was nice to see DD building on what she was doing at home, at nursery. That sort of thing.

It seems a fairly engaged intake so I doubt I’m the only one logging in but I’m starting to suspect I’m keen even by our standards.

Just here because I’m over-identifying 😅
Today I dropped chocolates into reception for the nursery teachers (they have a BIG stressful event today..) and now I am cringing at home thinking why did I do that?! 😩

I'm a primary teacher and I would love all your comments and likes. You should like a REALLY lovely parent!

QueenofLouisiana · 16/11/2021 17:13

@Peppaismyrolemodel never worry about dropping in chocolates, they will have been very appreciative! It’s a truly kind thought.

avocadotofu · 16/11/2021 17:14

@Peppaismyrolemodel that's such a lovely thing to do. You will have made your child's teacher's day!

I love it when parents reply on Tapestry as it means they are looking at it and engaged with what their children are doing. It doesn't take long to post a comment so you won't be making any more work for her.

I would like chocolates dropped in occasionally as well 😀

I'm in nursery as a TA and use Class Dojo.

We love it when parents comment Grin

It's actually really helpful in allowing us to know your child better (so we can plan around the child's interests) as well as evidencing good school/home links.

You guys 😬 you’ve stopped me hyperventilating!
Deffo taking inspiration from the op and liking more photos 😬

StripeyFloorboards · 16/11/2021 18:01
