I am really new to this, and I need advice on when my child should start going to playgroup and then to real school. She is at home with me all the time and goes swimming and to Mother and toddler group with me, but she is very eager to learn. She is 14 months today, can anyone help me?

Navaho - the best thing is to ask someone local, as things vary so much according to your area.

In my area, for example, children can start playgroup at 2.5 (if there's space), state nursery the term before they are 4, and school the term after they are 5. In my sister's area they start playgroup at 2.5, but they get 5 free sessions per week at playgroup when they are 3, then they start school the term after they are 4.

Is there anyone at your toddler group who has older children too, and could start giving you some advice? Or you could try chatting with someone at your local swing park, with older children. They will soon fill you in on the possibilities in your locality.
