Degree in musical theatre requirements

Hello... I'm looking into the eligibility requirements for a musical theatre degree and it says 'a levels ccc (preferably performing arts)

I take this to mean you need 3 a levels at grade c or higher.

My confusion is does that mean 3 separate a levels taken over two years to get 3 grades?

Or

Does one a level taken over 2 years give you 3 grades?

....

If you need 3 separate subjects, what subjects would be best?

Three separate a levels at grade c.

I however, did an access to HE course and studied English literature, history and sociology. Which was one intensive course that took one year.

I would think Drama, music and English Lit would be good subjects, but ask the university that you're interested in applying to.

For a student considering uni at 18 it will be 3 A levels studied over two years. There are also some BTEC qualifications which are one subject but worth three A Levels (so you study the same amount as if you were doing 3 separate A Levels but in one subject) which may be suitable for entry.

If the university doesn’t specify any subjects you could theoretically study anything, but your selection should help you build the skills you need for the degree course. I’d suggest considering drama, music, English lit

Subjects will depend on the course and how practical or academic it is. Many students will take a Foundation course before a vocational degree, which focus on auditions rather than academic attainment. There may be an equivalent entry requirement for btec level 3.

Thanks all that's really helpful info. I think there is a BTec equivalent.

There is a BTEC in performing arts (musical theatre) and that should give enough UCAS points to be accepted into a degree course.

The BTEC course is being phased out though, and I think it will be replaced by the UAL course in performing and production arts, which some colleges are already running.
