Hello,

Just started to look around for options for DD starting next September at 3 or September after at 4. There seem to be a lot of options and I was wondering if anyone had experiences to share? I've looked at Richard Pate and Airthrie so far but also interested to see Berkhampstead. How did you make your mind up?

Both my DDs were at Berkhampstead and it was a beautiful, happy little school. They really were so happy there.

They both got scholarships to Dean Close and CLC so the academics must have been ok too and the music was excellent, but the focus was always on happy children.

I will say now that this was twenty years ago though so probably not much help to you!

Mine went to Dean close in recent years before we moved away.

It's a lovely school and the early years staff were amazing. My children really enjoyed their time there.

Thanks!! Great to hear some experiences. I'm not sure about secondary options yet so looking for something to keep options open.

@ApplesinmyPocket @privateinfo did you consider any other options? What sold you on your choices?

Cheltenham College are opening a new nursery building on site and it looks marvelous. Whilst I wasn't in area when my dd was small I would have definitely looked at this. Everyone I know who has children here love it - great pastoral and care, plus early years education is tip top. The site is central to the prep school and uses all the same facilities.. fields, swimming pool etc. This feeds into the Pre prep and prep which are very solid. Most of the children stay on to Cheltenham College but probably 15 to 20% go elsewhere like to Chelt Ladies, Pates and other grammar schools. Definitely worth a visit to anyone looking in the area.
