School Uniform exchange on mumsnet?

Hey!
I don’t use mumsnet often, so apologies if I’m asking a dumb question…

I have a load of school uniform I’d like to pass on - in my case for Abercorn School in SJW.

Guessing there are thousands of people like me out there 😊

Is there a place on mumsnet to exchange / pass on uniform? If not, who’s up for making one? 😁

Mumsnet is not just a National site, but an International one.
I don't think it is at all realistic an idea.

Many local Facebook Groups will let you offer Uniform for local schools, which means people can pick them up directly. Plus of course the local groups that specifically collect uniforms to give away to other families. Smile

There are quite a few online sites already doing this (maybe ask your PTA which method your school uses, if they don't run their own secondhand sales?) Stevenson's online has a secondhand uniform site where you can register, and there are other non-profit sites to donate uniform if you google.

Otherwise, I'd try posting in your Local topic on MN, so people are more likely to recognise the school name etc.

Facebook sites are probably the better place for this.

Yeah the PTA has a uniform exchange, but it charges recipients… I just want to pass it on!

Not sure about fb - there are a huge number of threads on UK / London private school on mumsnet… feels like this is best place to reach those parents?

Anyway have posted my bundle in the primary school section… hopefully I find a taker Smile

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that the PTA charges people for the secondhand uniform. Most people can afford a token amount (I think our primary asked 50p an item), and it presumably goes towards school funds. Hopefully they have some arrangement for those who genuinely can't afford it - such as the head being able to raid the supplies to give items direct to families in need.

Offering it free online often won't get it to those most in need.

Our school uses and promotes this website: oldschooluniform.co.uk/

Parents can list their own items for sale or donate them to the PTA which lists them to sell in aid of the school.

The site is linked from the uniform page on the school website, and in correspondence to new joiners, alongside the suppliers of new uniform.

@needanutherbrain thanks! Will try that Smile
