How was THAT class after the half term hols? Any better?

I haven't taught them!!! They were on a trip last Tuesday so missed my lesson. I have them next on Tuesday this week, although the LEA Advisor is taking the lesson in a non ICT room. He is launching a new, big ICT Unit to them, which is actually a non computer based lesson anyway. LEA man is launching this to as many of our Y9's as he can, to try and give the scenario some aunthenticity.

He has been in with them before so knows what to exoect, and we have a few strategies being developed for them. Most of which seem to be ignoring the minority in the class who are a nightmare - or getting rid of them as soon as they kick off, using the school's discipline policy tof calling for Active Patrol after they reach a Red Warning, and having them withdrawn from room. Even if this means having 5 or 6 out we will do it! Determined to concentrate of those who do ant to work, and are sure that once the rogue elements are out of the room, those who can be drawn in will settled down and work okay.

How's the prison work going? Do you teach ICT there as well?

Prison is going great, thanks. I teach Business related courses - Budgeting and Money Management, and also Introduction to Small Business. But as everything needs to be word processed my ICT skills are obviously a bonus. The inamtes I have been teaching so far have all been lovely (towards me) and no discipline issues at all. Infact, touch wood, I have felt very safe in the prison environment. I really enjoy it

Let's hope Tuesday's little angels are as eager to learn
