letter of resignation

can anyone help me write a letter of resignation please. I have no idea how to word it! Thanks

Thanks. Yes i am a teacher. Do i put the last date of term (21st dec) or the day before the new term finishes? (6th jan)Also do i need to address to the head or the chair of govenors? Do i put reasons for my resignation or not? sorry lots of questions!

I think the above draft is good. What you basically want to intimate is that

a) you are resigning
b) the dates which this is effective from, ie, four weeks from the date you tender it (unless your contract states otherwise) and if you have holidays etc to take
c) that you have enjoyed your time there (even if you have not) and that you wish everyone success in the future.....

Keep in simple and short...x

What does your contract say about notice? Teachers usually have to give more notice than this.

Would agree with Roisin about your contract - have you already informed them and the letter is a formality? I think your contract will end on the last day of this term.

You may find it useful to state both your last day at work (so that would be end of term) and then your last day as an employee -presuming they differ.

the letter is a formality. personal circumstances have changed dramatically recently and can't work the usual notice period for teachers, i have spoken to head and she has agreed to this.
