Carshalton Beeches

What do you think of Carshalton Beeches especially in and around the Wellfield Gardens development?

It looks leafy enough but what about crime? Yobs hanging around smoking weed? Antisocial behaviours? Muggings?

I know it is probably safer than many areas but would love to know the reality of what its like, is it going downhill or still a nice area.

And views on local private prep schools?

I think it’s a lovely area. I run around the Wellfield Gardens development sometimes and never see anything dodgy looking or feel unsafe. Generally feels a very safe area and I feel fine walking back from station alone at night. There’s loads of green space. The occasional smell of weed from behind a bush - like anywhere - but not seen any particularly yobbish behaviour accompanying it. Not heard of any muggings although I think there might have been a dog snatch or two recently.
Don’t know anything about the local private schools.

It’s a lovely area and ‘on the up’.
Local Prep Schools:
Collingwood in Wallington
Sutton High Prep
Banstead Prep
Might be more towards Croydon.

er its a lovely area - obviously a bit more south london than further out into proper surrey. Lots of choice for private preps and secondaries for all types of children and more importantly parents!

I would add Seaton House and Aberdour to the list of preps as well but obviously you would be right next to Barrow Hedges primary anyway which has historically always been seen as a good school.

Great to hear it is safe and on the up! It sounds like maybe there are many families in the area too. Is it a diverse place or not really?

@ChristopherTracy Barrow Hedges I have heard great things! Similarly Aberdour but not sure if worth the money. Seaton House,,, is that prestigious or desirable or not really? It looks like a residential house.

Depends on what you mean by diverse?

It's very much outer London, not inner city. Some ethnic diversity, but primarily white.
THe immediate area is very much middle class.

Aznmummie · 03/06/2021 14:07

I always get confused... what is middle class @Seeline ?

Is it super wealthy, wealthy, decent healthy income or doing ok?

I only know working class mean factory maybe or manual

Sorry!

I'd go decent healthy income in the main for this area. Lots of professionals, city workers and people with their own businesses.
