Hi, my husband and I are looking at both Cricklade Manor and Rendcomb College as possible options for our son who is currently in Year 2. We visited both schools and met with heads. Cricklade Manor seems more academically focus. Just wondering if there are any parents who have kids in either of these school that could provide their comments share their feedback. Also, if possible, I would like to know what you think of the heads strategies? Many thanks.

I have a dc at Rendcomb and they absolutely love it, it’s a fab school, really friendly and the children are delightful. It’s untrue to say that it isn’t academic, the children are stretched - there is a big range of ability but they are all well catered for and get good results- the joy of a smaller school. The junior school has a good success rate at11+, although most stay on for the senior school. My dc has loads of fun, lots of outdoors stuff, sport etc and is very happy there so I’m sad to think people would try to steer you away from it.

@Aliothy did you make a decision in the end (appreciate you asked the question a year ago)? I'm looking in a similar area!

Hi. We have postponed our decision due to personal reasons; however, planning to visit Rendcombe again. I will update you shortly on what we have decided.

Hi OP,

My children attend Cricklade Manor, have done since preschool- my eldest is y1.

I'm not quite sure about some of the comments above, indeed they're a little upsetting but I'll try to be as helpful as possible.

We like Wishford, and the head. The schools in the wishford group all seem to work well together. Every year has seen a step forward in our eyes. It is interesting to read the ISI report from 2017, just before we joined, and just as Wishford took over, and see how they have improved. I think the growth of the school over the last two years especially is testament to the good direction it is taking.

It is not a hot house, but the kids are pushed along. There is a strong focus on grammar school entry. Are there any particular questions you have?

Hello, interested to hear your thoughts on Cricklade - if you see this message? Is there enough extra curricular and are the teachers good?
