Does anyone have any idea what they assess and ask kids? We tried so far Hampton and WCPS but have no idea what happens during the session and the criteria they are looking for? My son just turned 3 years old and I dont know what they expect from kids at this age? I am not a big fun of those early assessments but that's the only way if you want to get in good pre preps :( Any has a view what is going on in those sesions? Thanks

Our Son got offer from WCPS & Hampton recently for reception. We are yet to make decision however to your query as we understand , they take kids to different areas like puzzle and during that they ask few questions , then take to the area of story telling to try and assess listening skills and then like Blocks to see how best they follow instruction . They don’t try to push only to ask question , they don’t want loud kids but want kids who can he groomed (this we were told by someone, can’t recollect)

Hope it is useful .

Thanks

Thanks for the response. But just to understand when you say reception Hampton takes kids to start a year before reception for kindergarten, when they are 3 years old, is this the offer you are referring? And for WCPS assessment took place last Friday, how come you received the offer not quite clear to me? Thanks if you can clarify

Hampton Prep conducted assessment as they had few vacancies for Reception 2021 (which happened 4 weeks back roughly), yes WCPS reception 2021 has couple of vacancies for which we had applied and assessment happened 2 weeks back and we got offer this weekend by post.

Understood you were referring to 2021 reception intake, assessments I was referring was for 2022. Anyway it is still surprising for me to see Hampton is offering plces af the age of 4 which they told us as impossible as it the kinds move automatically from kindergarten to reception. Good luck with your choice as both schools are great, any preference you have in mind?
