Anyone could give advice on school run from upper Sydenham to JAGS? Tied of bidding for a decent house within budget in dulwich! Thanks!

Do you mean by public transport? Which is your nearest train station?. The Beckenham Junction - London Bridge route takes you to just around the corner (West Dulwich station you need to get off at I think).
What bus routes are you near? (I am not entirely sure where Upper Sydenham starts and finishes if that makes sense).

Ilovemaisie · 26/04/2021 07:32

Sorry it's North Dulwich station not West

Ilovemaisie · 26/04/2021 07:34

Buses 37 and 42 stop right outside the school. You would probably need to connect from another bus though.

Thanks for your response! Driving to the school. Have to relocate dulwich and surrounding areas but cant get anywhere in dulwich so looking at alternative places now.

Ah driving I don't know I am afraid.
(I believe driving through Dulwich Village has some stupid restrictions at school run times though so careful which route you go)

Get the Foundation coach service

Driving would be a nightmare

I would look for places with good public transport routes, or that the JAGS school buses cover. Driving at school run time will be a nightmare. The LTN has virtually cut off access from the South and the S Circular will become impassable once the ULEZ extends to its boundary.

Streatham Hill has nice roads and the 37 bus (and others) and trains to N Dulwich. For example.

Don't move to Sydenham, it's the last non achingly posh section of the borough and some of us who are not millionaires would like houses. What's wrong with east Dulwich or Streatham?

How old is your DD @HanaL?

The Foundation coaches do go through Sydenham, pick up on Kirkadale, I think.

Driving will take about 20min.

Trains from Penge East will take 10min to Herne Hill and then you can walk.
Trains from Beckenham Junction take about 30min to North Dulwich then 5min walk, as mentioned earlier.

Not sure of any direct bus routes from Sydenham.
176 goes to Penge and then it’ll be a 10min walk from the bus stop.

LTNs are have been imposed without improving transport links.

Sydenham is not that far from Dulwich - perhaps 3 miles? Could she cycle?

HanaL · 26/04/2021 22:34

She’s 4. Will need 3 more years for school bus lol

Pop her on the back of your bike or get a cargo bike. The traffic is a nightmare but there are loads of parents who cycle their children in.
