Saw these (a set of 12) on the Richard and Judy book club site. Does anyone know what reading stage they are? It's in the '5+' category but are they stage 1-2 or 5-6?

The titles in the set are:

The Fountain of Youth, The Patchworker, Lug and the Giant Storks, The Flying Circus, Tumbleweed Desert, Troll Talk, Biff of the Jungle, Underwater World, The Stone of Contentment, The Demon Drill, The Sound Monster, Fabulous Fancy Foods.

Thanks!

There are not the very early reader ones. They would be a later stage - quite a lot of writing on each page and quite a lot of different vocab. I'd say at least ORT stage 6 to be honest.

These are not ORT reading scheme books, but the Magic Key storybooks based on the TV series. They are much longer than the books in the scheme and I suppose were originally designed to be read by a parent to a child. We have several of them in an edition from M&S from a few years back. They are not carefully graded vocabulary etc like the scheme books. They are also rubbish stories (though my DSs loved them).

My ds loved them - I would say about stage 7 or 8 of ORT. I bought a set from ebay (new) for about £15 incl P&P

Agree they are the BBC Magic Key cartoon spin-offs not part of ORT as such and are much longer narratives with paragraphs. dd was able to read them properly from when she was on about stage 6/7 ORT although she'd been happy to read them from earlier as she'd seen most of the episodes ar home. The cartoons themselves deal with punctuation, figures of speech etc and dd saw some again in Reception/Year1 as part of literacy lessons. The Works have them on offer too.
