What are the choose of private schools in St Albans ? Focus on primary for now but with a view of secondary for the future .

Not a lot actually in St Albans.

There’s STAHS for girls (although the prep is in Wheathampstead) and St Columba’s for boys (although it is going co-Ed). And that’s it.

Boys also have Aldwickbury in Harpenden. There is King’s in Harpenden too but I really wouldn’t bother with it unless you are devoutly religious or your child has SEN.

A lot of parents go further affield - Beechwood Park, Berkhamsted, Westbrook Hay, Edge Grove and Radlett Prep.

But in St Albans itself options are very slim.

Oh, and St Hildas for girls in Harpenden

Thank you looks like not much choice then . I don not know any of the areas you mentioned , will research . St Albans is convenient for many reasons to us but if only few schools to choose from not sure it will be the right move .

Berkhamsted town is worth a look if you have to commute to central / north London - direct train to Euston in half an hour. Quick shoot down the A41 to the M25. Closer to a lot of good prep schools. Has a similar vibe but much smaller, with a good High Street for a place of its size.
