Elocution lesson recommendations

Bletherer34 · 03/04/2021 16:58

I'd like my childs confidence in public speaking to improve. Any recommendations for elocutions lessons? She tends to roll her words and speak too fast. She has a future on the platform so I'd like to give her that extra confidence boost.
She is secondary school aged.
Thanks in advance.

Look on the LAMDA directory to find someone in your local area: www.lamda.ac.uk/sites/default/files/Teachers%27%20Directory%2029.03.21_0.pdf

This actually made me chuckle😆 . She probably means a career path like teaching, broadcasting,Film actor,Barrister etc.

😁....exactly...I mean she has a future on a stage as a public speaker or a performer she likes to present her opinions to an audience.

Busker?

I would look for local speech and drama classes. Not as formal as ‘elocution’ but will teach the skills you are looking for.

LAMDA a good place to start.

Definitely LAMDA.

I had elocution lessons. Has probably affected how I speak, but certainly didn't make me more confident.

A friend's child speaks very well - they go to a saturday drama/speech class. Its quiet expensive but she has passed some of her lamda exams etc and the play I attended was fantastic!
