Hi Everyone
We are looking at Woodcote and Sunningdale school and was wondering if there are any local parents who are sending their DS as day boarders to either ?
Is is compulsory to board or Softly encouraged ?
Ie any parents who had/have their DS as a day pupil for 7-11 yr old period and then Moved to graduated boarding to prepare for 13+ schools ?
Interested to have feedback as we like both schools but struggling with the concept of boarding from an early age

Hi. I have 2 boys in another local prep. Considered both Woodcote and Sunningdale and we spent mornings at each with the Headmasters.

Sunningdale is very definitely a boarding school. They do have a handful of day boys - about 10% - but quite honestly, the day is pretty long and I think it would become a little pointless to be picking them up only to put them to bed. I also would worry they'd be viewed as a bit different.
Woodcote has more day boys. Still a lot of boarders in the later years and the long day still applies, however more local boys stay as day I understand. I hear such rave reviews about Woodcote from friends. Seems to be an extremely happy place. They also do flexi boarding which suits many families. Sunningdale does not.
Have you thought about Papplewick?

Many thanks for your thoughts. Which Prep did you select ?
Haven’t looked at Papplewick yet as we like the idea of the small class sizes at both Sunningdale and Woodcote

Papplewick class sizes are the same. Average 13 to a class. I've PMd you.

Can you please share your experience with Papplewick? I plan to register my son there. I would apprecaite very much your comments on the Papplewick.

@nahiddd I'll PM you when I can. In the meantime I'd suggest you start a thread with Papplewick in the title and you should hopefully get some others who know the school too.

@Legoninjago1. Thank you - I will do so.
