(Asking for a friend)

Friend is moving house next week (about 80 miles). Unavoidable.

One child age 4...so that’s an in year application. One year 9 - ditto.

Problem is 3rd child is year 6. So that’s in year application for next term, but what does she do for year 7. It’s not an in year application, but there’s no where on the council website seemingly to do a late application? Suggestions gratefully received- council education team not answering the phone!

In year for next term
Late application ASAP for Y7 before the wait lists are published!

Could she speak to the admissions of individual schools directly? They may have a direct contact in the council and be able to give some guidance. My daughter was due to start reception in sept 2020 and, although everything had to get final approval from the council, the admissions lady at dd’s school made sure everything was in place so as soon as the documents were released she could start immediately.

4 school applications to do.

Any chance you can email the admissions team, with a title making it clear if is linked to a long distance move, and not the million and one other messages they are going to be getting right now.

Late application for Y7 and in-year application for Y9.
Your friend needs to phone the LEA about the Y7 child. Many LEAs have a second round of allocations between now and May/June for which this child would qualify.

Yes, it’s an in-year application for Y6 and a late application for Y7.
