Schools in Cambridge

We're thinking of moving to Cambridge from NW London. However, we really don't know very much about schools in Cambridge. I know that the Perse and the Leys are meant to be good secondary schools, together with Hills Rd, Sixth form college, however, I don't know anything about primary schools or the prep schools. If anyone has any advice/information I'd be very interested to hear it! We have a 5 year old dd and 11 month old b/g twins.

Best wishes

Milly

Hi Milly, I don't know too much about schools, as dd is a bit too young yet, but I will be looking quite soon. From what I have heard though, many of the little primary schools in the different villages are actually very good in the Cambridge area, depending on where you live. The Perse Nursery and Pre-Prep for 3-7 yr olds is co-ed, but after that I think it is boys only. St Faith's is also a co-ed Prep and is owned by Leys school. Both are supposed to be very good.

Sorry I can't be more help.

I did my PGCE at Cambridge, Queen Edith's Primary School was always reckoned to be excellent.

There are Perse schools for boys and girls, both are supposed to be good.

I was mainly on teaching practice outside Cambridge though.

Hope that's helpful.
