St Albans school or latymer (grammar)

Hi all

We have been offered a place at St Albans school for our son. We are also likely to get a place at Latymer (grammar school). We live in Winchmore hill and finding the decision quite difficult. We are really impressed with St Albans. Obviously the facilities are outstanding but it also seems like a really friendly and welcoming school. However the bus journey will be pretty long vs a 20 min bus journey to latymer. The huge cost saving for latymer is also of course v attractive and latymer still achieves amazing results. But the area and safety near school are concerning, and I have found the head quite rude on the few occasions we have been to the school. The school is also very run down. Can anyone with children at either school provide feedback? Does anyone have children at St Albans travelling from Enfield borough?

Thanks

St Albans run coaches from the green to the school. Big yellow bus. the keble kids travel to St Albans. You’d need to factor that cost in
I don’t think travelling to St Alban on school bus is overly onerous, travelling with on bus with mates and talking

Latimer is free. You’ll,literally save £thousands
What the HT is like to the kids is what really matters, as opposed to whether or not you find him brusque. Your kid will be at school not you

What’s your safety & environment concern regard the Latymer school area?

It’s a trade off
Do you want to say tens of thousands pounds. Y or N
Private or State Grammar

At Latymer he will have more local pals however St Albans has a steady flow of north London kids being bussed up there
