11+ scholarship - when do they let you know?

If you apply for a scholarship, do they let you know before offers are made, or do you find out about the scholarship at the same time as you get your offer?

We applied for a non academic scholarship and I just realised we never heard back. Offers are out tomorrow. Would we have heard about the scholarship before the offers are out or is it normal that they tell you about both at the same time?

I am beginning to think DC probably wasn’t successful with the scholarship application as we haven’t heard anything? Not sure what the usual routine is!

What is the non-academic scholarship- music or sport? The schools my children applied to had separate audition/trials/interviews for scholarship candidates, and we were contacted separately from the entrance tests to attend auditions/interviews.

RedAndGreenPlaid · 11/02/2021 19:01

Sorry, should have said the interviews/auditions were about four weeks after entrance exams, to give the schools time to mark papers and decide who would manage academically at the schools before they invite to audition/interview.

Zodlebud · 11/02/2021 19:25

We heard at the same time as the offer - in the same letter.

AnotherNewt · 11/02/2021 19:29

scholarship offers are included in the main offer letter

If you didn't get called for an assessment/audition, or asked for a portfolio, then you won't be in the running for those types of scholarship

If dc didn't do any sort of assessment or audition for the extra curricular then it is unlikely they have been shortlisted. Were they interviewed for a place as well as taking an exam? Offers of any scholarship or bursary funding are normally included in the outcome letter.

Thanks everyone! We did the audition but it was unclear to me when they leg you know. I thought it would come together with the offer, but someone just told me that schools always tell successful scholarship applicants early, ahead of the offers.

Clearly this isn’t (always) the case? I guess we will find out about both the general outcome, and if positive and DC gets a place, also the scholarship, tomorrow.

Thanks!

We received an email with the offer of place which didn’t mention the scholarship. Later that day we received the paper letter in the post which had details of the scholarship. It was in a card addressed to dd full of glitter! This was a sports scholorship

RedAndGreenPlaid · 11/02/2021 21:03

Ours were in the same letter as the offer (pre-covid!)

sandybayley · 11/02/2021 21:15

Ours were with the offers. Exactly the same timing as the standard offers.

bluebellscorner · 12/02/2021 00:34

@Toomuchleopard love that! Your dd must have been so pleased!

My daughter got an art scholarship from one of the schools today and it was in the same letter as the main offer
