Move to St Albans

Dear all,

I am wondering whether I can get some advice from families living in St Albans.

I have 2 children aged 5 and 3. We are thinking of moving out to St Albans (lifestyle change - green space, cleaner air, secondary schooling, short commute to London).

I was wondering whether anyone sends their children to St Adrians Catholic Primary School? If so, what are your thoughts on the school? Also what secondaries do children generally go to?

What is the traffic like getting to schools.

What is the catchment for secondary schools?

Any advice would be great!!

Can’t comment on schools but “cleaner air” is not something that springs to mind. The traffic in and around St Albans is generally awful on a normal day.

For a similar vibe but less polluted I would look at Harpenden and Berkhamsted.

There is a good catholic girls school - loreto, which is state. Also Nicolas Breakspear which is a mixed secondary. If you are catholic you can get in those and not worry too much about geographical catchment.

St Albans has plenty of leafy areas and parks. It is a city though and the centre is busy usually - quiet roads at the moment but that is covid

I’d like to know about St.Adrians Catholic school as well. Looking forward to the comments.
