Hi
We recently moved to Guildford and looking at prep school options for DD. Does anyone have real and current (warts and all pls!) experience of Guildford High's junior and/or senior school? I'm somewhat prejudiced against girls only schools due to (poor) own experience but hoping this place is different...? Thank you in advance.

Hi There, I think you’ll struggle for too much feedback as over the year(s) your question has been done a few times over already! :-)
I do know that it’s a good school and the kids that go there seem happy, and facilities are good too, it’s also in the middle of town, very convenient for train and the drop off isn’t too bad if you’re only doing the work me school on your run. There’s no 11+ test between the JS and SS so there’s always rumours about how they ‘encourage’ students that aren’t doing so well in the JS to consider another SS option instead of staying on... but I’m sure if your DS is focused enough she’ll breeze on through and enjoy it.
Are you specifically looking at girls prep schools, there’s quite a few around the area, inside and out of Guildford. You have GHS already, but also in town there is Tormead and Rydes Hill. Outside of Guildford there’s a multitude of others.
Had you considered any other options or backups, or do you already have a GHS place?

the one school on your run.*
Sorry typo!

Loads of good selective and non selective prep schools about, depends on your academic goals and location. Have you tried the isc website, do a search and filter, you'll find co-ed ones too, if you're not keen on girls. Tormead is another excellent (Girls) Guildford town centre option, outside of town you also have StCats (also good), alongside the other ones mentioned. try the website: www.isc.co.uk/schools/

Thank you so much! Much appreciated. More research is needed clearly :)
