pencils for school

This might seem trivial, but it's driving me nuts! My ds1 is coming home from school with blunt pencils and colouring- in pencils and when I try to sharpen them the lead breaks further!they are from Asda and Woolies. Can anyone recommend "heavy duty" pencils both for writing and colouring in that will last for a while!
Thanks.

you may have to buy the more expensive ones ( crayola?)

Crayola ones are fab! How old is he tootie? Does he have to take his own stuff? Legally schools have to provide all that is needed, but in most schools there is a culture whereby they start taking their own pencil cases in at a certain age. At our school it's yr3.

Also Staedtler pencils, or other quality, expensive ones.

Roisin he's 6.He takes a pencil case with him, although I know the school has some, too.
I'll try crayola and staedtler,I don't know why I didn't think of those myself!
Thanks!
