I can’t help but feel repulsed every time I see GW on tv. He is to me such a slimey gargoyle of a man. Am I the only one?

@Lessofallthisunpleasantness

He seems all right, very keen but a bit out of his depth. Has an interesting accent where words seem not to quite finish, which I always find myself focussing on.
His accent cracks me up - it's a mix of attempts at posh to cover up his roots and northern boy when it slips and it's absolutely horrendously nasal as a result.

I've been known to use him to practice phonetic transcription on as the accent bouncing around is so funny.

If his lips move = he's lying incidentally.

GuyFawkesDay · 31/12/2020 20:13

I mean, he was sacked in his last cabinet role for the Huawei scandal.

We should have realised he'd be as much use as a chocolate teapot. The man is utterly clueless.

RMRM · 31/12/2020 20:16

Useless, out of his depth, a spiteful bully and incompetent are the nicest things I can think of to say about him. He shouldn't be anywhere near the education of our children.

Houseplantmad · 31/12/2020 20:29

He's a cock, and an incompetent one at that.

FingersCrossedForAllOfUs · 01/01/2021 12:06

I think he should take his own advice and go away and shut up.

MrsWooster · 01/01/2021 12:09

Like his colleagues, he is out of his depth and lacks the integrity and decency to admit that situations like this need all hands on deck rather than posturing political prickery.

starrynight19 · 01/01/2021 12:12

Hideous man completely out of his depth.

And that whip picture made me feel sick.

Yes!

Don't forget the effing tarantula.

Misssugarplum12764 · 01/01/2021 12:35

I take back my comment that he may be ok organising a litter pick. I’ve just watched his horrendously patronising interview on the BBC yesterday. The tests STILL aren’t in school, the training videos aren’t available until next week, the £78 million doesn’t even touch the sides of recruiting enough extra staff to do it and that’s before you even consider the actual reliability of the tests themselves. Anyone with experience in schools and/or a reasonable level of intelligence knows testing won’t be up and running any time soon; he either knows this and is pre-emptively pinning the blame on schools (conniving) or he genuinely doesn’t understand (incompetent)

Feenie · 01/01/2021 12:41

What about apparently swearing in his children's lives that he wasn't responsible for the security leak he was sacked for?

Imagine making the guy who was sacked as Defence Secretary for leaking sensitive information Education Secretary???????

Mumof3cherubs · 01/01/2021 15:53

He’s employed to make the rest of the government look competent.

It's not working. Boris, Hatt Mancock, Grant S, Jenrick and Patel still look terrible. And that's just for starters.
starrynight19 · 01/01/2021 18:10

Genius , a way he could prove useful in education. Phonics Grin

SnowballedMum · 02/01/2021 22:05

I know very little about GW however his last speech gave the impression of someone who was adhering to the party line rather than expressing his own thought out policies. GW is taking one for the team.

The so called U Turn appears to be a classic reverse psychology game plan implemented on the left leaning London Labour MPs who would have ridiculed him if he initially closed all the schools; There would have been outrage and comments that he is damaging children's education closing schools. However getting what they want,( apart from Islington and Greenwich) and being left out, forced a reversal of their opinion.

The closure of all schools was always the desired outcome, well in London anyway.
