I typed cursive practice into google and came up with loads of websites that offered downloads

Beware that American cursive is a lot more flowery than British

I printed these off the other day,

Roarindrunk · 23/10/2007 19:48

I use this website just to print off the sheets.

i then write my own letters on them ( in cursive script) which are copied from a sheet that the school provided us with.

Some of the letter formations in school are different to what I learnt at school.

It is a good idea to laminate them ,then they can be used over and over again.

DS1 uses the Sparklebox ones. He loves them and we've printed some off for his friends too.

Galt do cursive work books but not sure where to buy them. One of the mums at school told me she bought some for her DD.

roarindrunk - that website is fab being able to type in what you want to come out in cursive, Thank you!

HIJACK ALERT! (Apologies) Is anyone else having trouble with the cursive lower case "r" (as in BreeVDC's link)? I was taught a l.c. cursive "r" as in Roarindrunk's link, which is easy to link up to the subsequent letters, but DD is trying to do the other way and the connection to the next letter is just rubbish! What are we doing wrong?? Or is it actually rubbish?

Roarindrunk · 24/10/2007 13:59

jan - dont do the r in my link , it is not the one that they teach in school , certainly not my DS.

I just use the blank sheets from that link to print out to help DS form the letters that I copy from the sheets that they have shown us in school.

the r we use , is a lead in from the bottom . shaped like 'r' , lead out from the top . Does that make sense ??

I also use one of these boards , they have them at school and ou can order them from the website .

All formation of letters are the same as school EXCEPT f and Z

wipe board

ds has a lamanted sheet from school - they kindly gave him a thick chiseled boardmarker to write on it as well. Result = complete and utter mess as the pen is sooo thick in the small lines it's crazy and this is from his class teacher!

brimfull · 24/10/2007 22:14

roarindrunk-that white board is just what we need thanks.
