Covid and 11+/kent test

Our child is sitting the 11+ Kent Test next week. I am hearing a number of schools in the area ( mainly secondary) who have had to send bubble groups home due to positive cases.

Does anyone know what would happen if children are at home self isolating and miss the test date ?

They can sit the test when they return to school. It's possible that schools will offer half term test dates if necessary.

Thankyou, that is reassuring !! Keeping our fingers crossed all will be okay next week

They will be offered the test when they come back from illness/isolation, but the guidance from KCC is that they must have a day back in school before taking the test. So it won't be at half term.

That depends. Some may already be isolating and be due back on Friday. Some may get a cough on Thursday but test negative halfway through the following week. So in those cases they could take it before half term. But half term could be a better option than waiting longer in some cases (even if it means not having a day back first), as otherwise children may miss the headteacher appeal deadline. Schools have been asked to consider half term if appropriate.

Will they get the same test? Or will there be a different version for later sitters.

My child is due to sit in a couple of days and I am wondering if I should take him off school to avoid having to self isolate.

So does London going into tier 2 impact the Kent test which is due to happen on Saturday ?

goodymoody · 15/10/2020 10:22

I am trying to search whether tier 2 restricts travel.. but can't find anything ..

Beckymum where is the guidance that kids need a day back from school?

good question, if your child is sitting it at a school in Kent may be worth while getting in contact with them ?

It is going ahead!

I may just take my child out of school tomorrow as I don't want to risk being isolated with covid!

Chalk2000 · 16/10/2020 14:12

Dont blame you !!
