Anyone's PTA have a child protection policy?

And if so, would you be able to share it with me? Our PTA is registering as a charity and we don't have one at the moment and I'm feeling somewhat daunted by the thought of writing one from scratch. I've found lots of school ones and policies from other voluntary bodies but nothing that's directly relevant. HELP! Thanks.

I'll also post this on fundraising.

Furzella you're welcome to have a copy of ours. It's based on the NCH one altered to our own.

Send me your email & I'll forward it to you tomorrow.

Have you looked on the www.ncpta.org.uk website for PTAs. It is really good and will have info on child protection and PTAs.

Are you not registering under the umbrella PTA organisation? i would imagine they ahve one you can use.

FWIW I haven't seen a policy in ours yet (and am the Secretary but nothing much has been passed over from last year), but would would be able to create one if we needed it as used to work in the CP (charity) field anyway.

Bossybritches - thanks v much - have emailed you.

Mimizan and PFCWB, we are registered with the NCPTA and I've had a rummage on their website and although they have helpful info on child protection, I couldn't find a sample policy. I've left a message for our regional coordinator in case I'm being a total muppet - always a possibility.

No probs Furzella it's a nightmare isn't it? We just pinched a PLA one years ago & have fine-tuned it to our setting.

You should have a Curriculum advisor for your area(-sorry now called Birth-to-Fives co-ordinator!)- who can talk you through these things. Find where the Early Years Development team are based & they can track down "your" advisor.
