Hi, I'm mega confused. My daughter is 3 turns 4 in April. People are telling me she will not start school that the following September and you receive the letters in November and dead line is January 15th to pick schools. You can apply aswell too the schools directly. I tried doing that but it says I'm not entitled but anyone born in 2016 is entitled? My daughter was born 2017. Will she start the September coming? She will be 4 April and September is when I thought she would start I'm so confused ?😂

Sept 2021.

You will receive a letter and apply online. .

She will start the September after she turns 4 (if in England), so if she turns 4 in April 2021, she will start school in September 2021

In England, she can start school in the September 2021.

Don’t wait for the letter. Our authority don’t send letters! Go straight to council website. You can probably do it now. But deadline not until jan.

Hi everyone Thankyou! It's not something I'm excited for right now I just needed to know as I was told she would miss it for some reason. I thought it myself. Thanks everyone!

Schools often like to know if you're putting them as first choice, to get an idea of numbers, but as Itshissister says, you need to apply online.

This is the information I found on dates: You can apply from 1 November 2020. The deadline to apply is 15 January 2021. they send out letters inviting parents to apply at the end of October. You can still apply if you don't get a letter.

Squoon · 18/09/2020 17:08

If you're in Scotland she would start in August 2022 but if you're in England/Wales it would be September 2021.

NemosPoorlyFinn · 18/09/2020 17:08

My son turned 4 this week and I applied for his school place this morning
His nursery sent a newsletter saying you could apply now
Unsure if it's the same everywhere I'm from the east mids

NemosPoorlyFinn · 18/09/2020 17:09

Just to add I will find out if he's got a place 16th April 2021 and he will start September 2021

seven201 · 18/09/2020 17:26

You don't get sent a letter where I live. My dd is 4 and started reception a couple of weeks ago.

Mybabysmylife1 · 18/09/2020 18:10

@NemosPoorlyFinn , hi! My child goes to a childminders so I don't no if I get any notification when to apply? I was told I should get a email.

@SnapeSnapeSeverusSnape hi! I tried to apply online but it says my child isn't eligable to apply online but anyone who was born in 2016 is eligible to apply online that's what confused me.

www.gov.uk/apply-for-primary-school-place

It says from the 1st October on my local councils site but here is the link to actually apply

Sailingblue · 18/09/2020 21:22

Your council might not have updated the application page. Our area does a short window of November to January.

At the open days our school head said to make sure you apply before Christmas as every year they have someone who doesn’t and then forgets in January. There was someone in our village that forgot to apply and missed out on a place in the v sort after school. They’ve ended up somewhere rubbish that’s far away as it was the only school with places.
