Eaton House the Manor Girls question

Hello all,

My daughter has been offered a place at EHTM, and I wanted to get some feedback from parents who send their daughters there if the girls school and boys school are on the same level academically? Are you happy with the school? How do you feel about pastoral care? Does it offer co-curricular opportunities or is the focus mainly academic? For a shy girl, but very bright, would she struggle to be seen? Are girls too stressed/under a lot of pressure or are they enjoying their childhoods? I went to a single sex school and loved it so I like that aspect of it. Is the general ethos competitive or is it a nurturing environment?

Sorry for all the questions, there’s only so much you can tell from open days without talking to other parents openly and honestly.

Another question I have is about clapham life in general. We used to live in the old town back in 2015-16 (pre kids) and loved it. We’ve since moved a bit further but if we accept the place would move back closer to the school, probably same area of clapham. My concern is since 2016 till now, every time we visited clapham, which is often, it seemed unbearably crowded! My question is, how do you find clapham life with kids? Is the density of people/families an inconvenience in terms of activities being over subscribed for example, or is there a good/supportive community of parents?

Appreciating any insight and thankful in advance

Hi, I'm looking for a primary school in clapham for my daughter who will be year 3 and my son who will be reception this fall.

My family will move to London from other country in summer and it's difficult to get to know about schools by only looking at website and your opinions are very helpful.

My kids are fluent in English (I'm still learning English, though)

Our choice is Dolphin school, Parkgate house, Eaton House school and Belleville school, for now.

Eaton house school looks great for boys, but great for girls, too?
If you have some opinions or other recommendations, please let me know. Thank you!

Hi there!

When is your move? Have you checked there are places available at these schools?

I only know of Eaton House and have only heard wonderful things. Can't comment on the other 2.

I have DC at EHTM- boys and girls. Both are brilliant. It focuses on the important traditional fundamentals well- supports children with solid basic academic skills, manners are excellent, extracurricular strong, pastoral care is personal and highly responsive. The facilities are excellent and great location by the common. New girls' head is from Bute House, a very strong academic London girls' school, and is popular. Boys' head has been there forever and very highly regarded. We have never looked back. You have to be on board with quite a traditional approach and like the single sex on one site model. You will get more insight on nappy valley net- more of a local forum.
