The government have handled this shamefully.

They have been so crap

DryIce · 17/08/2020 16:07

I am so pleased to hear this. Those poor kids.

Is it the case though that some of them will still miss out if their courses are oversubscribed? Even if they now have the grades?

JacobReesMogadishu · 17/08/2020 16:09

Yes, some will still miss out. Universities have allocated places and not all will have space still.

elephantoverthehill · 17/08/2020 16:10

Hurrah!

OneMoreLight · 17/08/2020 16:14

Those who now have the grades they needed for their first choice are surely still screwed though if they've had to select their second choice uni or go through clearing.

oneofthose · 17/08/2020 16:22

What do we think to the students who’s results were increased by the algorithm? Will they be able to keep the higher grade or revert back to their CAG?

Totally agree. Thank heavens for the devolved administrations and their sensible approach to this monumental fuck up.

lifeafter50 · 17/08/2020 16:23

Interesting because some of ours got higher than the teacher prediction! Do they have to downgrade?

Too late for my son who now has to do an extra foundation year at huge cost as his grades were downgraded from the ccc needed to get in to a cdd which meant the need for a foundation year
Wonder if I can get ofqual to pay

quentinquarantinio · 17/08/2020 16:24

No, it says they get whichever grade is higher

It’s worth contacting the uni and seeing what they can do?
Notthemessiah · 17/08/2020 16:32

I just feel so sorry for all of those students who are still being put through the ringer by this whole farcical process. How stressed out must they be by now?

Schmedz · 17/08/2020 17:47

Better late than never, but still a rollercoaster now for any students who might not yet have met an offer but want to appeal the process for calculating their teacher CAG...

I think any grades which had been increased will stand as it's such a small percentage which actually improved - it would be cruel to take them away even if it was technically the correct thing to do!

I can’t claim the name was my idea...it was a bizarre autocorrect on a thread ages ago which made me laugh.
