Apprenticeship intake 2020 anyone?

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as us? DSS is adamant that he's not returning to school post GCSE's and he'd got into a trial of a couple of days with a big motor manufacturer pre covid.

Obviously now employers are not focusing on apprenticeships, he's followed up with the one that looked promising and a few others he was chasing + applied for a load more, we now fear that in 2 weeks time when the schools go back he'll still be in limbo.

Suspect he'll have to get a place at college and wait it out to see what comes up in an apprenticeship then drop off the college place but it's a lot of faff! Is anyone doing similar?

Is there any provision within the college’s apprenticeship department for apprentices awaiting an apprenticeship? Or is there a traineeship he could go on in the meantime?
