Humpty Dumpty went to the moon
on a supersonic spoon.
He took some porridge and a tent
but when he landed
the spoon got bent.
Humpty said he didn't care
and for all I know
he's still up there.

What about "Who has seen the wind?" by Christina Rossetti. I can't do cutting and pasting but if you google the title it will come up.

In winter I get up at night & dress by yellow candle light
In Summer quite the other way I have to go to bed by day
I have to go to bed & see the birds still hopping on the tree

Can't remember the rest but I learntit at that age

The Lion is fierce
His teeth can pierce
The skin off a postman's knee.

It serves him right
becouse of his bite
He has no letters you see

Where the bee sucks, there suck I:
In a cowslip's bell I lie;
There I couch when owls do cry.
On the bat's back I do fly
After summer merrily:
Merrily, merrily, shall I live now,
Under the blossom that hangs on the bough

flippin 'eck, floosy. Is it a riddle?

mwamwa · 03/10/2007 20:03

even simpler....

Today I saw a little worm
Wriggling on his belly.
Perhaps he'd like to come inside
And see what's on the Telly.

Spike Milligan

This is by Spike Milligan and is on the pavement of the south bank

Along the Thames the ducks all glide
it's quite the nicest way to ride
Their feet get wet
Their tummies wetter
I think myself
The bus is better

Twigaletto · 03/10/2007 20:10

There are holes in the sky
where the rain comes in
But they're terribly small
That's why rain is thin

I've never seen a purple cow.
I never wish to see one.
But I can tell you anyhow.
I'd rather see than be one.

(I must have learned that when I was about seven )

I eat my peas with honey,
I've done it all my life.
They do taste kind of funny,
But it keeps them on the knife.

To The Fair
by Brian Moses

When Dad and I went to the fair
We tried out all of the rides
We dodged about on the dodgems
And whizzed down the astro slide.

Then we rode the rollercoaster
And it gave us quite a scare
One thin is certain Dad said
I'm not going back on there!

islandofsodor · 06/10/2007 21:36

The rest of Katymacs poem (I actually learnt it as a song for a competition when I was about 9 or 10

Bed By Day

In winter I get up at night
And dress by yellow candle light
In Summer quite the other way
I have to go to bed by day.

I have to go to bed and see
The birds still hopping in the tree
And hear the grown up people's feet
Still going past me in the street.

And does it not seem hard to you
WHen all the sky is clear and blue
And I should like so much to play
To have to go to bed by day.

When Betty eats spaghetti,
She slurps, she slurps, she slurps.
And when she's finished slurping,
She burps, she burps, she burps.

DS loves this and remembers it because he thinks its rude!

In the dark dark forest
There is a dark dark path
Along the dark dark path
There is a dark dark tree
In the dark dark tree
There is a dark dark hole
In the dark dark hole
There is a dark dark nest
In the dark dark hole
There is a MOUSE

Said very quietly till you shout Mouse

Bunny was hungry
Bunny popped out
Ate a piece of parsley
and then a brussel sprout

No one saw bunny
Only just me
and I wont tell anyone
what bunny had for tea!!!

so short and so sweet but Dad always used to change the ending to

Only just me
so I chopped his head off
and had him for tea!!!!!

collision · 06/10/2007 22:28
