Does he want to stay in halls or a flat? Dundee is very reasonably priced for accomodation, although I don't know about pricing for halls. There's normally a lot of flat shares for 300-400 a month. Depending on what he's studying would also make a difference on where to stay. If studying medicine, or something which requires regular study at Ninewells hospital, Menizhill or Charleston would be good areas, although they maybe aren't the most favourable areas (although a lot of Dundee can be like that). If more interested in socialising and the student experience towards the start, he's best to look for somewhere around the Perth Road, which is where you'll find some restaurants and pubs, as well as the Union and main Uni building. Dundee does have a a few good bus routes, although from my experience of living in the Whitfield/Fintry side of Dundee is that the routes were very much exaggerated and long, so took what felt like forever to get into town.

Awe- exciting- student here. No advice as it's 20 years ago now- but Dundee is wonderful and I wish them all the best!

Thank you for that detailed advice and for the good wishes! It was his second choice but as a Scot I am secretly pleased Shock

I'm sure he'll love it :) Dundee is a lovely city, small enough that it's easy to get around but busy enough to still feel like a city.
