Dollar Academy

Hi, we’re moving from the English school system to Dollar. My daughter will have to sit an entrance exam to get into S1. Is it very competitive to gain entry at this stage? Also I have another dyslexic child, does anyone have experience of Dollar Academy dealing with children with extra needs! Thanks

I have no direct experience of Dollar Academy (other than my DD playing them at hockey) but I came on to suggest you move your thread to Scotsnet as you are more likely to get the appropriate traffic there.

My (limited) experience is a few years old now but Dollar are famously not great with kids who need additional support in any way. I'd not send my children there as I don't like their ethos but lots do and most thrive.

Living there though puts you within reach of the Edinburgh private schools, some of which have a more enlightened attitude!
