Good evening fellow mumsnetters!

We've got some hoodies ordered for our year 6 leavers. Obviously they're missing out on their end of school plays and discos etc. Anyone got any fab ideas what we can arrange for them instead?! Obviously it depends on lockdown rules for the end of July and we just can't predict them!!

Can I ask where you got the hoodies from please. Our school do nothing for yr 6 in a normal year!

That's sad! Another parent got them from a local clothes printing company

they could have a picnic party in a local park? each child on own picnic rug. must be some games that could be played without anyone getting close to anyone? and then some loud music and dancing on your picnic rug.

littlem133 · 18/06/2020 08:19

But you're only allowed to meet 5 other people aren't you?

hmm yes good point. But that might have changed by the end of July?

Our school doing leavers books. Each child/parent sends in photos, messages , memories etc and they get made up by a printing company. They would normally sign autograph books/shirts so this covers that element.
Haven’t heard if anything is happening instead of leavers service and end of term party.

mnistooaddictive · 18/06/2020 23:13

Ours usually do an assemble where they read out all their memories. This year they will do this on film and it will be put together remotely.

I think we might be too late for a book. A video sounds good. Maybe I could get sent videos of the kids or photos and I could make one big video. Bit worried about data protection/child protection though

Our school is paying for an ice cream van to visit all their houses 🍦

We’re doing a leavers book and also a leavers film with all the kids involved. Also, a staff song for them (video). They’re also going to have a party within their bubble in school. Pizza/cake, some music, a movie etc.

Angel2702 · 23/06/2020 19:29

We’ve got a year book and hoodie and a leaving gift.

They’d usually go for a set ice at Southwark cathedral so that’s being done online and they are preparing a song to record for it.

They are recording their year six show in their bubbles without costumes or props then putting it all together on a dvd for parents.

We're doing hoodies, leavers books and socially distanced water fight, Disco and shirt signing on our last day which has been brought forward to 3 July. Disco, Water fight and shirt signing, only in their bubbles of 15 (morning/afternoon groups) in the school playground so will work fine.

There is talk about a park picnic later in the summer if restrictions lifting, organised by parents outside of school.
