Part time school but not part time pubs

The header says it all really. So I have received a letter from my dc's school stating that it's looks like the children returning will be part time and phased in. However shops seem to open as normal as well as pubs. Why can't schools return with ppe provided by parents or am I missing the point?

Yes you are missing the point.

I must remember that shops are open as normal and ignore the queues outside, the 2 metre distancing, the guards on the doors, the one way systems, the plastic screens, the contactless payments, the restricted number of customers, the online ordering. Yes, back to normal!

Yes, you are soooo missing the point!!

Where are pubs open? Please tell me!

Hmm...probably because Primark won't let 1200 people in at once and keep them there for 7 hours?

Just a guess...

Shops and maybe pubs taking a fraction of the usual number of people allowed in. Schools taking a fraction of the usual number of children allowed in. Seems similar to me.

Did you see the 2 hour queues to get into Sports Direct/Primark today, that is not back to normal. Clothes etc being sanitised/quarantined if touched and not bought, that is not normal.

Pubs won't be opening as normal. They may start as being outside only, with social distancing, be that 2m or 1m depending on the rules then

The year groups in my school are back full time in bubbles of 15. We don’t know what will happen in September yet. If social distancing is required school will be part time as there is not enough staff or space to teach smaller groups of children full time.
