Fed up with Y2 homework that requires a weekend's worth of attention!!

Is it just me?!! I have no prob at all with the old: Do these sums together/ read this/ find out 3 facts about that etc BUT we're getting weekend after weekend of : List all the healthy food you eat this weekend then draw pictures of it. OR Look at the shops in your local town, draw a map of the town etc. At best we spend the weekend trogging around diligently attempting to invoke some interest from DS2 as we ALL 'do' his homework, or we effectively lie through our teeth on Sunday afternoon concocting what we think the teacher wants to hear!

We had a meeting about "what to expect from Y2" this week and the teachers made a point of saying that the prep set will be for the kids to do themselves, definitely no projects, model making and so on. I was very pleased! DD does her homework in the car on the way home, excellent preparation for her teenage years when she does it on the bus

I hate homework for primary school children, especially infants
they are only little!!! Let them play
