N.B. I don't think he sees the issue BTW - it's just me! He's now in Y6 and I was watching him do his homework this week and he just writes SO slowly in this laborious joined-up handwriting. The problem is that I can compare him to his older sister (2 years older) who I'm sure at the same age could whip off a whole paragraph to his one sentence. Should I be worried? It's not just the speed it's the size - if he writes on a blank piece of paper it's his letters are really big!
Is it just because he's a boy and it takes longer? I don't think it's a physical/dexterity thing as he still spends loads of time playing and building lego (wonderfully complex Lord of the Rings battle scenes....), although he does hold his pen/pencil slightly oddly (although previous teachers have said not to worry about that).
Just looking for tips or assurance really!

I think you should leave him to it, to be honest, you're worrying about nothing and comparisons aren't really helpful between siblings (though easy to do of course).

He may be thinking about what he's writing and he sounds very measured and considered about what he's doing.
