How many online lessons from your DC's prep school?

After Easter, our DC's prep school will be delivering just two lessons a week online via MS Teams. Work will be set for the remaining lessons. I had expected a much higher number of online lessons, especially as each pupil has an iPad. I'm interested to find out what other prep schools are doing - how many lessons will your DC's prep school be delivering online each week?

Full timetable (for two prep-age dc in state schools)

So far no online classes but work set and communication via email. I wouldn't want a full online timetable it just doesn't work well with more than a few kids and I'm any case kids learn by doing not listening to a teacher online.

Full timetable on Google classroom supported with Zoom. It was trialled in the last week before they broke up. Classes start with some “face to face” teaching and then they complete the work through Google classroom. The teacher stays online through the whole lesson in case of questions.

Form teachers are available on Zoom at the end of each day for parents to chat.

Strict rules have been put in place for the Zoom sessions.

Daily after Easter holidays (another ten dates yet)
Not sure my DS is in the mood for that though, he's Y6 and they should be doing all the fun stuff now! Y6 production, community volunteering, residential, party, etc all cancelled obviously.

@Zodlebud
That's great and was what I was expecting from my DC's school. Is your DC's school providing all that as well as giving a fee reduction? (We're getting about a third off.)

Yep, 25% fee reduction. I am very happy with what they are providing.

Chocstar · 16/04/2020 16:11

@Zodlebud
Can I ask which school it is? (Totally understand if you don't want to disclose.)

Have sent you a PM.

Mine isn't prep, but private specialist.
From before the lockdown the school closed to allow international students to fly home.
From day one every class has run to timetable, on teams.
Obviously it's holiday now, but they return to timetable again.
They continue to have sign in/ registration twice a day, and work to the subject specs as they would in school.
Music lessons continue via skype, accompanists also on skype.
Mine is Y11 and is still sending work in for assessment as they were told work done now will count towards GCSE assessment.
There really is no change apart from they are at home, with classes delivered online.
Mine still sees her SENCO for an hour a week.

We have one in prep and one in pre-prep - both will check in with their form teachers daily on teams and then the prep will have 6 lessons per day with the option for the teacher of using teams or not for each lesson.
