Hi all. I'm looking for any ideas or recommendations for a bright, anxious (possibly High Functioning Autism) girl accessible from Crystal Palace. We know of Sydenham High, but any others we should be aware of?

I don’t know these schools but so you can investigate if they are suitable: Old Palace; Alleyns; JAGS.

DD’s state grammar has a number of very unique girls with quirky characters and traits and I believe Crystal Palace falls within the 9 mile catchment so do take a look at Newstead Wood too if you are looking a Y7 entry for 2020 or later.

Sorry - I am used to posting in Secondary but realise this is just in Education so don’t know what year you are thinking about for entry. If primary then Old Palace goes all the way through.

Oh thank you! Yes, it would be secondary. We are thinking about Newstead Wood (and it might be the only grammar within distance!)

Newstead is a great school. But it doesn’t suit everyone so do investigate further. DD is loving the school. Also look at the Sutton grammar admissions- not sure of their requirements. Good luck.

I think SHS would be much better than the Dulwich schools for an anxious child. I've heard Bishop Challoner in Bromley is also very good for pastoral. The grammars can be pressured academically and socially.
