Rowans vs Shrewsbury House Pre Prep

Hi parents

Our DS has been offered a place in Rowans pre prep school (Drax Ave.) for starting reception in 2021. We have also have him registered to start with Shrewsbury house from Seprtember 2020. I was wondering if anyone has any insight into which of these schools will be better in terms of preparing him for entry to KCS and other academically strong schools at 7+

My son has just started at Shrewsbury PP in the past few weeks and we couldn’t be more pleased with it. It is small but very friendly and I’m fully confident if there was a problem they’d be onto it straight away. They are focused yet nurturing which is important to us as to make our son like school in his formative years (mistake we made with our older son who went to a more hot house school). We also liked the main prep
School they get automatic entry and is normally difficult to get into providing the hm believes they will thrive there. Never looked into Rowan as too far geographically for us being in a Esher. Feel free to message me with any questions!

They are part of the same school group now. Shrewsbury house in long Ditton has 2 feeder preps, Shrewsbury house pre prep in Esher and The Rowans in Wimbledon. They both feed at 7 to other schools or Shrewsbury House School.

Both have exams at age 7?

Hi my son is in reception at Shrewsbury PP and we can’t fault it. I’m not aware of exams at 7. They get automatic entry to Shrewsbury prep (which normally is quite competitive & the good school guide states 1/10 get in) but they will take stock and let you know if they fill the prep school is the wrong environment for your son and work with you to get your son into another school.
