Complaints to school

Hi, I'm a teacher and I'm doing a project on how schools deal with parental complaints. I'm really interested to hear about situations where you have raised a complaint and how it was dealt with. I am a parent myself and I think the views of other parents would be very helpful. : )

Most “complaints” are to class teachers initially and then escalated, if need be, to SLT and Governors according to the published complaints policy of the school. Few parents use an official complaints policy. However you can look at any school and see their policies on line. I’ve never used one.

A teacher was asking my son why he was so slow he has sensory processing disorder and his brain works slowly he is bright but not fast I complained the word slow was obstructive language and in my experience dealing with my son it was a self fulfilling prophecy I complained via the senco he is now being placed in a different group with more support and hopefully the word slow will be banished forever
