  1. DONT buy a jumper if your dd has hairstyles that will get messed when said jumper needs to be removed or your child isnt capable of removing their own jumper
(i did!) 2. DO buy more than 4 shirts (i didnt!) 3. DO buy them a pencil case - even if they dont use it at school they like to use it at home 4. MAKE the effort to chat to other parents at the school gate on day 1. day 2 is even more difficult if you dont. 5. DO find out on day 1 when gym day is, so your child doesnt have to do gym in pants and shirt (i didnt!)

will think of more later

LOL!

I'm beginning to think that I shouldn't have bothered buying DS2 jumpers as he doesn't want to wear them for some odd reason.

I wanted to buy DS2 two shirts and two polo shirts but ended up with three shirts thanks to M&S (not only did they have buy two get the third free on School wear but each pack of shirts had a bonus shirt in it) and two polo shirts and I agree it is definitely too many.

Second your tip about gym but in our case it is for the reason that I will put DS2 in a polo shirt ensemble on gym day so that he is not annoying the teacher asking her to do his tie.

My best tip has been to buy (for a boy who isn't used to wearing a belt but his trousers are falling down) a belt from Next that is 50% elasticated, the whole part of the belt that goes round the back is elasticated and just the parts at the front are leather (I would do a link but the Next site has just frozen on me). That way if he is in a fankle trying to get his troosers doon at the lavy he can just pull them straight down without undoing the belt.
